You Must See it Before Anyone Else Does
I knew a person who thought that way. She said it often. Unfortunately, she died. That was real. Dying skeptical of the unseen is a harsh reality.
This leads me to reflect on how the mentality of not seeing things as possible often results in not striving to bring them into reality. She died along with her dreams because she couldn’t see them manifesting.
Every invention in existence began as an unseen vision. A vision that was only seen by the creator of that invention. Visualizing your dreams is the first step to bringing them into reality.
There are Dream Catchers and Dream Stealers
People who only live to see the tangible have traded their dreams to chase a perceived reality. What they do not understand is that they are also chasing a dream. The difference is that they are chasing a dream that someone else has already made a reality. Going after another person’s dream with the intention of adopting it might be dream-stealing. I say might, because there are caveats to that.
Not Everyone Who Goes After a Dream that Someone Else Has Accomplished is a Dream Thief
There are many examples. Let me give you a few. Let’s say your dream is to play in the NBA or NFL. A lot of people want that. Work ethic determines it. In a case like that, one is sharing a dream, not stealing it.
Stealing a dream happens when negating a person’s desire and telling them that they are incapable of turning that dream into a reality. People who have lost their ability to dream may attempt to steal yours.
Remove Yourself from People Who Don’t Believe they Can Reach their Dreams or are Attempting to Negate Yours
That mindset can be infectious. Dreams are hard to obtain. It takes determination, even when it doesn’t seem like it’s happening, to believe that it can be done. You will run into many obstacles on your way to achieving your dreams. It lets dream stealers feel they are right. For the moment, they are.
They are only as right as you allow them to be, because if you don’t stop, eventually you will hit your goal, or at least die trying. Why not push as hard as you can? 50 Cent’s first album was titled “Get Rich or Die Trying.” He meant it, the man to nine shots. They didn’t kill him, and he is now very rich. He held to his beliefs.
If money and fame are not what you are going for, that’s alright. What matters is the mentality and conviction of achieving your goal at any cost. The journey will be difficult, and there will be many challenges, as well as people attempting to steal your dreams.
Friends and Family are People You Think You Can Rely On
You hope and believe they will support you. Some will, because they believe in you. They will be your rock and pillar when you feel weak. Some think they are supporting you by telling you to put your dreams down and come back to reality. They do not like to see you hurting from a failed attempt. They have good intentions, but are giving you bad advice.
Some may become so angry that they choose not to pursue their dreams, and they resent the fact that you are doing everything in your power to stop them. What is crazy is that it might come shrouded in acts of support. They may try to convince you that giving up is in your best interest. That is hard because when someone you love and respect is actively stealing your dreams, you don’t want to believe it. Oddly enough, it happens all too often.
Et Tu Brute
It sucks having to watch your back, but the Caesar situation is real. There can be Brutuses out there, masking their intentions. They may not want to see you rise. It’s a syndrome. Crabs in a barrel syndrome. Chasing your dreams may mean you will have to cut some people off.
They are not meant to go where you want to go. It’s going to hurt, but are you willing to sacrifice your dreams for someone who doesn’t believe in you? Even worse, they are actively attempting to derail you.
Massive Success is the Best Revenge
Sinatra said, “The best revenge is massive success.” Don’t get upset with your haters; get even by achieving your goals. Even better, use their disbelief as fuel and thank them for it. The look on their faces will be priceless when they see you at a point they told you that you wouldn’t be.
Do not stoop to their level. Use them to elevate. Stand on their shoulders and head in the process. You only need their negative energy. Not their presence.
Stay On Mission
Your dreams are the most important thing. Revenge is not. But achieving your goals and giving them the middle finger is all the revenge you will need. Living your best life will hurt them. They chose not to pursue theirs.
When you hit your first goal, don’t stop there. See how far you can go. Continue to push past your limits to discover a new one. When you do, do it repeatedly.
Never worry about the people who can’t see it. It only becomes real when they wonder how you managed to make it happen. Bringing your dreams into reality can be painful for non-believers. But he who laughs last, laughs loudest. Laugh your ass off when you make it happen.
